With idle recognition you can easily determine who on your contact list is generally away (Idle) or just appearing as away manually (away).

Messenger Discovery users can fake Idle status, so only if you know that 
they do not have Messenger Discovery installed does this really mean that they're generally away from their computers.

Because the user has ceased activity on their computer, they have been marked as Idle. This means that they are generally away from their computer.

User has set their status to away, so they could very well still be at their computer.
