Each number represents the tab on the settings window.

[edit] 1.1 General Settings

• Use language.
• Do not check for newer versions.
• Show MessengerDiscovery today upon sign in.
• Do not show me as using MessengerDiscovery Live.
• Do not display 'helpers' on sign in.
• Make the event log window always on top.

• Event log visibility.

• Windows Live Messenger caption.
• Show me as:
  • Normal.
  • Using a mobile device.
  • Using web messenger.
• After sign in, set me to online after.
• Allow Messenger to run more than one instance (Polygamy).
• When a contact goes offline bring them to the top of the contact list.
• Animate MessengerDiscovery tray icon when sending and receiving data.
• Terminate Messenger instead of sending it to system tray.
• Prevent me being shown as idle.
• Disable contact personal messages and now playing messages.
• Show me as having a webcam.
• Use the MessengerDiscovery Live display picture manager.

• When I click on my display picture open the 'Change display picture' window.
• Remove the following:
  • Advertisement banner.
  • Search box.
  • Toolbar Items:
    • Remove entire toolbar.
      • Do not show the 'mail' icon.
      • Do not show my 'sharing folders' icon.
      • Do not show the 'Spaces' icon.
      • Do not show the 'Live Today' icon.
      • Do not show the 'make a call' icon.
      • Do not show the 'paint' icon.
      • Do not show 'send message to a mobile device' icon.

• Remove the following:
  • Advertisement text.
  • 'Search' button in text input area.
  • 'Get a webcam' and 'get accessories' link.

    • Do not show the 'invite' icon.
    • Do not show the sharing folders icon.
    • Do not show the 'make a video call' icon.
    • Do not show the 'make a call' icon.

[edit] 3.1 Alerts

• Show an alert when the following happens:
  • A contact comes online.
  • A contact goes offline.
  • A contact deletes me.
  • A contact is possibly appearing offline.^[1]
  • A conversation connection is requested.
  • A conversation connection is closed.
    • Show in the conversation window.
    • Show as an alert.
  • A contact comes back from being 'away'.
  • A contact comes back from being 'busy'.
  • A contact comes back from being 'idle'.
  • A contact changes their personal message.^[1]
  • A contact changes what they are listening to.^[1]

• Show alerts on monitor.
• Alert visibility.
• Play a sound when showing an alert.
• Alert effect:
  • Fade in and out.
  • Scroll in and out.
• Do not show an alert when:
  • My status is on 'away'.
  • My status is on 'busy'.
  • My status is on 'appear offline'.
  • An application is in full screen mode.
• Do not show display pictures in alerts.
• Show alerts on the right side of the screen.

[edit] 4.1 General Settings

• My name in conversations.
• When a contact changes their status in an active conversation - tell me.
• Remove my 'is typing' message.
• Show me as 'is typing a message' when a contact is typing.
• Do not allow contacts to 'Add' my custom emoticons.
• Allow me to send nudges as often as I like.
  • Do not shake my window when sending a nudge.
• Use speech to tell me when a contact is typing.
• Remove my 'is recording a voice clip' message.
• Keep conversation window open after signing out.^[1]
• Conversation window visibility.^[1]

• Right align contact messages.
• Remove font formatting from contact messages.
• Upon receiving a message do the following:
  • Read the message aloud.
  • Do not allow the window to flash in the toolbar.
  • Bring the instant message window to the front.
  • Repeatedly flash the 'scroll lock' light.
• Hold received messages when my status is:
  • Away.
  • Busy.
  • On the phone.
  • Out to lunch.
• Auto reply.

• Enable spell checker.
• Capitalise the first letter of messages that I send.
• Trim unnecessary spaces off my messages:
  • From the front of messages.
  • At the end of messages.
• Right align my messages.

• Enable group conversation protection.
  • Automatically decline if I am not "Online".^[1]
• If I am invited to a group conversation:
  • Prompt me with which actions I can take.
  • Automatically decline.
• Enable message flood protection.
  • Alert me when this happens.
• Enable profanity protection.
  • Alert me when this happens.

• Do not allow contacts to send me links to web pages.
  • Contacts that can ALWAYS send me links to web pages.
  • Contacts that can NEVER send me links to web pages.

• Block me from receving the following:
  • Application invites.
  • Custom emoticons.
  • Nudges.
  • Winks.
  • Voice clips.
• Only block for these contacts:
  • Add a contact to list.
  • Remove selected contact from list.

[edit] 6.1 Mouse Gestures

• In a conversation, if another contact sends me a message, click the middle button of your mouse in the text area to switch to the other conversation.
• Enable middle button IM switching.
• To use a mouse gesture, click the middle button of your mouse and drag in the direction to perform the task set:
  • Nothing.
  • Sign out.
  • Open a conversation with.
  • Set my status to 'online'.
  • Set my status to 'away'.
  • Set my status to 'busy'.
  • Set my status to 'appear offline'.
  • Open inbox.
